Northern Restaurant and Bar 2018Bizimply will be attending Northern Restaurant and Bar this year and we’d love for you to visit our stand! The trade show will be on the 20th – 22nd March at Manchester Central and attendees can be set to expect an exciting two days of networking, discovery and innovation. We’ll be at stand C49 between 10am and 5pm both days – come and say hello to the Bizimply team!

What is NR&B?

NR&B is the largest hospitality trade show for the North of England and features 275 exhibitors, 65 live demos as well as the NR&B Debate, the NR&B Top Fifty and the NR&B Fringe. It is the place to source new products and services from 275 exhibiting suppliers, be inspired by 65 live food and drink demos, and attend a programme of events designed to make you and your establishment more successful.

What’s happening at NR&B?

Some of the highlights of NR&B in are:
(a) Chef Live, which includes a mix of renowned names and rising talent from across the country, (b) Drinks Live, which features spirit masterclasses with leading experts from international brands and indie producers as well as popular coffee tastings, (c) Grape and Grain, which consists of wine, beer & cider tastings led by industry experts and sommeliers. Topics include beer and food matching and maximising sales from your wine list, and (d) the Market Kitchen Theatre, where you can watch expert butchery, fishmongery & patisserie skills demonstrations.

What demos and talks do we recommend attending?

There are a lot of exciting exhibitors and demonstrations taking place at NR&B, so we have come up with a list of the ones we are looking forward to. Make sure you have time to check out these over the two days!

Day One – 20th March

1. Rupert Rowley Cookery Demo

Rupert, who is head chef at Fischers of Baslow, will be doing a cookery demonstration not be missed! Rupert’s innovative dishes take full advantage of fantastic, fresh, seasonal local and British produce. He’s in high demand for cookery demonstrations and competitions, alongside a burgeoning television career, including his 2009 ‘cook-off’ against The Hairy Bikers in their ‘Food Tour of Britain’ series and appearance in the first series of ‘Yes Chef’.

2. Ed Baines Seafood Masterclass

Ed Baines is a celebrity chef and founder of Randall & Aubin and is a believer that it is important to understand where your food comes from to ensure sustainability and ethical sourcing. Join him as he prepares seabream with a Picante raisin and pine nut salsa with garlic saffron potato sauce and wilted spinach, as well as steak of Roasted Peterhead Cod with sprouts, chive potato puree, spiced broccoli, crisp onions, and a shrimp cream.

3. Good Drinks: a Guide to Better Drinking with Healthy Hospo

Speaker Jim Wrigley talks about how to help improve the way people in the hospitality industry eat, drink, sleep and think for a happier healthier lifestyle.

Day Two – 21st March

1. Gary Usher Cookery Demo

Gary Usher is the owner of Sticky Walnut, as well as Burnt Truffle, Hispi and Wreckfish – restaurants that were opened following some record-breakingly successful crowd-funded campaigns. Following his appearance at the NR&B debate last year, he returns to demonstrate a dish from the menu of his latest opening Hispi in Didsbury.

2. Lisa Goodwin-Allen Cookery Demo

Lisa Goodwin-Allen is Executive Chef at Northcote. Her passion for food means she is always looking for interesting ingredients and techniques, and experimenting to create dishes where the ingredients and their flavour shine through. Lisa’s impressive culinary skills have also landed her a number of TV opportunities such as serving a dish of hers to Prince Charles, being a Great British Menu guest judge, as well as a chef mentor on MasterChef: The Professionals in 2015. Her demo is no doubt going to be hugely worthwhile.

3. Ellis Barrie Cookery Demo

Ellis Barrie, 27, is a self-taught chef who is now based in Wales.His passion for cooking began when he participated in a junior cookery class at the age of 12 and by 19 he was running his own restaurant. Now he has transformed a potting shed on his parents’ campsite from a café that served all day breakfasts into an award-winning restaurant, called The Marram Grass in 2011.
