Northern Restaurant & Bar 2017 – Our Must See Speakers

Bizimply will be attending The Northern Restaurant & Bar show this year on the 21st – 22nd March at Manchester Central. Northern Restaurant & Bar was set up by Holden Media to bring together the best of Northern Hospitality. There are a lot of exciting exhibitors and demonstrations taking place at the show so we have come up with a list of the ones we are most excited to see.

NRB17 hosts 300 exhibitors, 65 live demos and over 7,500 trade-only visitors attend. The show also includes the NRB Debate, NRB Top Fifty Awards, and NRB Fringe. Every year NRB brings together the entire Northern hospitality industry.


Day 1 – Tuesday 21st March

  • 10:30 am – 11:30 am ‘Hospitality: The Professional Advice Pharmacy’
    @ NRB HUB

Daniel Nolan (The Eword), Heather Gray (Avensure Ltd), Hilary Centeleghe (Business Growth Hub), John OHara (Finch Insurance Brokers), Michael Hadfield (Business Growth Hub), Paul Meikle-Janney (Coffee Community Ltd), Rochelle Silverstein (Allied London)
This group of speakers will all be speaking on individual topics, ranging from business support, HR to digital marketing. They have great experience in the areas they will be speaking about so you are in safe hands! Definitely not to be missed.
 

  • 12:00 pm – 12:45 pm ‘Tommy Banks’
    @ Chef Live Theatre

Tommy is a famous young chef. He is well-known for being the youngest chef to be awarded a Michelin star in September 2013 in the restaurant ‘The Black Swan‘. He also served his mackerel dish at the Westminister banquet as part of The Great British Menu 2016.

 

  • 13:00 pm – 13:45 pm ‘The Art Of Food & Wine Pairings’
    @ Grape & Grain Theatre

Miles Corish (Master of Wine @ Freemasons at Wiswell), Steven Smith (Chef Patron @ Freemasons at Wiswell)
This pair has worked together for years and has since created the very popular Food & Wine Club at The Freemasons. They will be teaching you a few of their tricks on how to create a menu where food and wine work compatibly well together. 
 

  • 13:30 pm – 14:15 pm ‘Charcuterie & Sherry Masterclass’
    @ Market Kitchen Theatre

Colin Woodall (Woodall’s British Charcuterie), Nathan Sherwood
This is one for the foodies! Colin and Nathan will be giving out tasters of the finest British Charcuterie along with a delicious range of sherry to entice your taste buds.
 


Day 2 – Wednesday 22nd March

  • 10:45 am – 11:30 am ‘ Double Trouble: Double Dutch – A Range of Premium Innovative Mixers’
    @ Drinks Live Theatre

Joyce and Raissa de Haas (Founders of Double Dutch Drinks)
Joyce and Raissa are the founders of Double Dutch Drinks. They will be discussing how they started their business and the ideas behind their different flavored drinks. They will also tell you about their method of production and will give you tasters of their delicious creations.
 

  • 13:00 pm – 13:30 pm ‘The Revival Of Dublin Whiskey’
    @ Drinks Live Theatre

Kevin Hurley (Global Brand Ambassador @ Teeling Whiskey)
Kevin will be discussing the history of Irish and Dublin whiskey and how it has reestablished itself as the fastest growing spirits category around the world. He will also be discussing the qualities of Teeling’s whiskey range and how they fit in with the current trend of cocktails.
 

  • 13:45 pm – 14:15 pm ‘Sharp’s Brewery Masterclass With Beer Bingo’
    @ Grape & Grain Theatre

Ed Hughes (Beer Sommelier @ Sharp’s Brewery)
I don’t know about you but we were sold at ‘beer bingo’. Ed will be going through portfolio tasting along with a blind taste challenge to make it even better. You will learn how to describe the flavors and qualities of beer in a way that you never have before.
 

  • 16:00 pm – 16:45 pm ‘Harry Yeung’
    @ Chef Live Theatre

Harry Yeung (Executive Chef @ Yang Sing)
Harry started cooking from the very young age of 13 and has since joined his family business by becoming the executive chef at Yang Sing. Ying Sing is an internationally renowned restaurant with many awards including the first ever ‘ethnic’ eatery to be awarded a Pestle & Mortar for best restaurant, from The Good Food Guide.
